Things to Know Before Filing Electronic or Paper Claims

Make sure the insurer/payer you wish to file paper or electronic claims with is already connected to ZipClaims. To search for the insurers/payers currently connected to ZipClaims, click here.
Note: If you do not find the payer that you want to file claims with in the list of payers, simply call our office at 1-866-925-2317 and we will begin the process of adding the insurer/payer to ZipClaims. We will notify you when and/or if the payer is added.

Contact each insurer/payer you currently file or plan to file claims with and obtain the provider or legacy identification number(s) required for you to process paper and electronic claims. Many insurers and payers assign one number for paper claims and another number for electronic claims.
We will provide you with the necessary paperwork required to sign you up with the insure(s)/payer(s) with whom you intend to file claims. The enrollment forms could include: claims, status, eligibility, and remittance. Complete the forms and send them to the enclosed address. |

You must obtain an NPI (National Provider Identifier) before attempting to file any claims. As of May 23, 2007 - all practitioners and providers are required to use NPIs for filing claims and all insurer/payers are required to accept NPIs for processing claims. The deadline for NPI enrollment has been extended to May 2008. If you have not yet applied for an NPI, click here. |

Medicare claims require a 6-character ID for filing paper claims and a 10-character ID for filing electronic claims. Many other federal and government payers may require special numbers or IDs as well. Please check with each agency before filing your claims. Also, please click here to access our Account Setup Form. Make sure to list each payer to whom you intend to send claims. Fill out the rest of the form and fax it back to us at 1-505-875-0002. |
